We encourage all middle schoolers to take advantage of Ann Arbor’s amazing natural resources, while learning a new sport and making new friends! Introduction to Fencing
HALF DAY PM CAMP
1:00PM - 4:00PM
August 14 - August 18
Ages: 7 - 14. The modern Olympic sport of fencing engages both mind and body. It is physically and mentally demanding and teaches problem solving as well as improved reflexes and agility. Fencing is unique in that a certain body type is not required. Fencing encourages different styles based on size and strength, and fencers are taught the importance of showing respect, regardless of the outcome. All equipment is included – campers should dress in sports clothing and sneakers. This camp is designed to introduce children ages 7-14 to the sport. They will learn basic footwork and bladework while learning simple fencing tactics and rules. Instructors: Ann Arbor Fencing Club Staff. Monday - Friday. IMPORTANT: If you register your child for both a morning camp and an afternoon camp, note that Rec & Ed staff will not be available to provide supervision between 12-1pm, so it will be necessary for you (or someone on your authorized pick-up list) to check your child out at 12pm and check them back in again at 1pm.
