Ages: 5 - 7. Recruits wanted for our top-secret detective boot camp. Meet real detectives, survey crime scenes, collect evidence and solve crimes all while participating in physical training. Find out whether you have what it takes to be the best of the best! Remember, crime doesn't take summer vacation. Instructors: Rec & Ed Staff. Monday - Friday.

June 19 - June 23
Ages: 8 - 10. Work in teams to investigate theories of criminal behavior, sift through evidence from fictional case files, and practice forensics techniques at simulated crime scenes. Meet real detectives in the field to find out how their jobs compare to what we see on TV. Become an expert observer, critical thinker, and problem solver in this week-long experience that may serve as the catalyst to your future profession. Instructor: Rec & Ed Staff. Monday - Friday.

Twin Knights Chess Camp

Ages: 7 - 13. Twin Knights Chess camp is for kids who have never played, those who have had some instruction and those who are familiar with the rules and some tactics. Campers will learn chess history, etiquette, piece movement, relative values of the pieces, common opening moves, middlegame and endgame strategies and tactics. They will practice under tournament conditions, analyze games of famous players, solve puzzles and have fun with playing bughouse. There will be trophies and other prizes. Instructor: All The King’s Men Staff. Monday - Friday. IMPORTANT: If you register your child for both a morning camp and an afternoon camp, note that Rec & Ed staff will not be available to provide supervision between 12-1pm, so it will be necessary for you (or someone on your authorized pick-up list) to check your child out at 12pm and check them back in again at 1pm.

A2 Nature Guardians will be back in action again this summer at the Freeman Environmental Education Center! Campers will explore ecology and stewardship principles through place-based activities and games, including habitat enhancement and native plant gardening projects on this beautiful 40-acre campus. Hands-on activities will include digging, composting, planting, hiking, scavenger hunts, creating and playing nature-based board games, designing and painting a mural, and much more! See how knowledge, bravery, and action can help save our planet and make you Ann Arbor’s greatest nature guardians! Instructors: Coert Ambrosino and Nate Hatt. Monday - Friday.

Buggin' Out - Jr Entomologist Camp

Ages: 5 - 7. Did you know that insects make up more than 90 percent of all living things on the planet? In this camp, you can learn what it’s like to be an entomologist, go on exciting bug hunts, create a bug observation jar, and play fun bug-themed games. You will also design bugs from your own imagination and learn about beekeepers and scientists. We’ll be “buggin’ out” all week long! Instructors: Rec & Ed staff. Monday - Friday.

Ages: 8 - 10. Have you ever dreamed of creating a new product or service and running your own business? Or have you envisioned how an existing product can be improved? Collaborate with other campers to name your business, design your logo, develop your product or service, and learn about “best practices” regarding inventory, budgets, customers, and marketing. Meet local small business owners too! On the last day of camp, you’ll show off your product or service to our "Minnow Tank" investors. Instructors: Rec & Ed staff. Monday - Friday.

Polly the parrot invites you and your shipmates to hoist the sails and batten down the hatches as you explore the Caribbean to search for lost treasure of jewels and gold. Along the voyage, you'll hear fantastical stories of old, tell corny pirate jokes, play games of marksmanship, and create your very own telescope and compass. You'll also learn about popular pirate slang and fashion - we'll have you lookin' and talkin' like a pirate faster than you can say, "Shiver me timbers!" So, pull up yer bootstraps and join us for a swashbucklin' good time! For the safety of all pirates-in-training, there will be no swords allowed. Instructor: Rec & Ed Staff. Monday - Friday.
