Teen Olympic Style Weightlifting

Grades: 6th - 9th. Join a safe, dynamic Olympic-style weightlifting program designed to nurture young athletes, improve abilities and physical confidence, and emphasize the multitude of benefits that extend to other sports and fitness. Learn how to master the snatch and clean and jerk (the two core Olympic weightlifting movements) while discovering the intricacies of these lifts and developing explosive power, speed, agility, and flexibility, which are essential components for success in various sports like wrestling, track and field, and football. Gain a competitive edge by improving your strength, balance, and coordination. Our certified instructors are experienced in teaching Olympic weightlifting techniques tailored for young participants and will prioritize proper form, technique, and equipment usage. Classes are open to aspiring athletes of all levels, providing an inclusive and supportive environment. Instructors: Joelle Emery and Jeff Pillars. 6 classes. No class 7/4. Class takes place at Lily Weightlifting which is located at 3660 Plaza Drive #1A, Ann Arbor, MI, 48108.

Little Ninjas Karate

Ages: 4 - 6 years old (Adult stays on site). Little Ninjas teaches introductory martial arts skills to young children and caters to the abilities and attention span of this age group. Children will learn discipline, self-control, respect for teachers, parents/classmates, physical fitness and coordination, balance, memory and focus. Learning is done through fun games and activities, and experienced, professional martial arts instructors keep the children moving and engaged. Each child will complete the introductory curriculum of Little Ninjas and receive their first Ninja belt (no additional fee). Karate uniforms are not required for this 6-week class but are available for purchase at PKSA on the first day of class. Otherwise, gym clothes are fine! A responsible adult must remain in attendance for this half-hour class. Instructor: PKSA Karate Staff. 6 classes. No class 7/5.

Kids Power Karate

Grades: 2nd - 6th. Students learn self-defense, physical fitness and coordination, teamwork, anti-kidnapping techniques, self-discipline, respect for parents/teachers and self-confidence in a positive, fun environment with experienced professional martial arts instructors. At the end of the course they will have completed the introductory curriculum of the Korean martial art of Tang Soo Do and will receive their yellow belt, the first of many steps toward a black belt if they wish to pursue it. Parents may participate with their children if they wish (this is optional). Last class includes a martial arts demonstration and each child will break a board under the safe supervision of instructors. Karate uniforms are not required for this 6-week class but are available for purchase at PKSA on thefirst day of class. Otherwise, gym clothes are fine! A responsible adult must remain in attendance for this 45-minutes class. Instructor: PKSA Karate Staff. 6 classes. No class 7/5.

With guidance from experienced instructors, learn essential skills such as proper grip, stance, and swing techniques. Whether you want to be the next golf champion or simply want to have fun with friends, this beginner class provides a supportive and engaging environment for young golfers to thrive. What to bring: Your own clubs (minimum of 2 clubs and 1 putter in a golf bag), comfortable clothing, and athletic footwear. Instructor: Georgetown Country Club Staff. 6 classes. No class 7/7.

This class meets for 60 minutes once per week. Class will include games for physical development, improvement of essential footwork, introduction to more advanced tactics and blade work, drilling and bouting. This class will prepare students for intermediate or competitive level Fencing. Instructor: Plymouth/Ann Arbor Fencing Academy staff. 6 classes. Beginning Level 1 students need to purchase a yearly $30 USA Fencing "access" membership for liability insurance coverage.
