Power of Drawing

Mondays

4/12 - 5/10, 3:30PM-4:15PM

Grades: 1-5. 

Springtime is all about vibrant colors, and our colorful drawings are guaranteed to capture your attention! Students will learn how to think outside of the box as they learn to draw a space monster and an intricate snail. We will create stylized drawings of flowers, just in time for students to give a beautiful Mother’s Day gift. We’ll also celebrate the season drawing birds and a butterfly. Artists will be learning core art skills while boosting self-confidence. Join us for interactive online zoom classes. No lesson is ever repeated.

Let’s learn Spanish this spring! This interactive online class includes songs, stories, short videos, and lots of fun practice! Students learn the Spanish alphabet and spring-related topics: colors, flowers, animals we see, and fruits to make our favorite fruit salad.

Explore, Create, Animate!

Stop-Motion Animation

Grades: 5-7. 

Grab your iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android or Chromebook, and join Ms. Jeanne Ruff to explore and create a Stop-Motion Animation! Use non-hardening clay to build movable characters. Follow a production process, and be guided through the development of a stop-motion animation movie. Make concept sketches using your own character by collaborating and brainstorming ideas onto a storyboard showing camera angles, action, and scene set design.

Chess w/Mr. Garrison

Grades: K-8. Beginning/Intermediate

This virtual version of Mr. Garrison's chess class assumes that all students already know the basic piece movements, but may not know any strategy. During the class, students will be introduced to the basic history of chess, opening principles, basic tactics, basic endgame techniques, and tournament preparedness. Students will also have the chance to play each other while Mr.  Garrison observes play.

Skyhawks Sports Sampler

This multi-sport program is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Athletes will learn the rules and essential skills of each sport, along with vital life lessons such as sportsmanship and teamwork. You can expect to be introduced to sports such as Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball. We will also focus on improving balance and coordination through fun games and activities.

Batter up! Skyhawks T-ball is designed to introduce K-2nd graders to America’s greatest pastime. Participants will learn the fundamentals of hitting, base running, throwing, and catching in a supportive environment. This class focuses on fun drills and various T-ball style games, while building on a child’s confidence playing the sport.

MS Multi-Sport Clinic

Grades: 6-8.

This multi-sport program is designed to get athletes moving, and even introduce them to a sport they may have never played before. Sports are taught in a safe, structured environment fueled by encouragement, sportsmanship, and teamwork. The group will focus on one sport per week, and will use a series of associated drills and games to sharpen their skills. Athletes will also be introduced to light conditioning exercises to improve their overall fitness. Athletes can expect to be introduced to sports such as Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and more.

Students learn the diversity and importance of Michigan's wildlife and forest ecology. They will also learn how to create and use a take-home, pocket-sized Nature Journal to observe, connect, and understand more about our natural world.
