Fee is per pair. Additional child is $199. Parents and children learn classical techniques of tile making, slab construction, sculpture, press molding, coiling, and glazing. Fee includes glazing and firing of 3-6 medium to large pieces and material costs. Each pair receives one 25lb bag of clay per session. Additional clay can be purchased from Rovin Ceramics. 10 classes.

Imagine Dance is an introduction to modern dance, improvisation and individual creativity in the dance studio of the CAB. Dancers learn to move their bodies in different ways as Lesley interweaves dance, music, literature and art for a holistic experience into the dance world. Class includes warm up floor work, locomotor, choreography and improvisation. A studio performance is included at the end of the session.

Let’s get creative with designing and building our fun inventions! Young inventors, builders, and engineers discuss the six simple machines of engineering and make projects based around them. In addition to problem solving and constructing, a small part of the class will also be time for them to participate in movement activities, art, math games, reading or relaxing. This is an opportunity for everyone to be met at their level no matter where their energy level is at.

Indian Tabla Drumming

Take a journey of self-discovery and self-realization through tabla drumming. A tabla, which is a pair of twin hand drums that resemble bongos, has been the principal percussion instrument in Hindustani music since the 18th century, and can be played solo, with other instruments, or as part of a larger ensemble. All experience levels are welcome, and if you don't have your own tabla, you can borrow from the instructor. Beginning: Students will learn proper technique, basic compositions, and care for your tabla.

From script to stage, students build a performance from scratch - writing, designing, and acting in their own original script. Throughout the process, valuable skills are developed such as writing, reading, listening, articulation, physical awareness, teamwork, and basic stagecraft. The program culminates with a performance of their original play.

Students will learn chess history, chess etiquette, the playing board, its chessmen, how the pieces move, value of the pieces, common opening moves, middle and endgame strategies, tactics, and how to checkmate their opponent. Join one of Ann Arbor’s favorite naturalists to explore the school nature center as seasons change from Summer to Fall. Discover, study, and interact with the plants and animals that live there, and take part in hands-on activities that help kids develop a greater understanding of and connection to the natural resources in their own backyards. Engaging with nature through exploration and play is one of the best ways to protect it! Class takes place outdoors.

Beginning/Intermediate. 

Students with no or some experience in chess are welcome to join. They learn basic opening and ending strategies and further learn how to use forks and pins. Playing Chess allows kids to develop self-confidence, become deeper thinkers, and have fun!

Beginning and Intermediate Levels. 

New and returning students are welcome! Students learn Spanish through conversation, songs, and interactive games. Some writing, coloring, and projects will be part of the class. This session will include greetings, days of the week, family, and revolve around fall; change of colors, animals we see, and food. Returning students will review their previous knowledge and learn new material each class.
