Spring Break Camp 2024

Spring Break Camp 2024 will be held at multiple locations from March 25 - March 28, 2024. Half-Day and Full-Day options are available for grades K - 8th.

​

IMPORTANT: If you register your child for both a morning camp and an afternoon camp, Rec & Ed staff will not be available to provide supervision between 12-1pm, so it will be necessary for you (or someone on your authorized pick-up list) to check your child out at 12pm and check them back in again at 1pm.

PLEASE NOTE camp location when registering.

 

Spring Break Camp 2024 will be IN PERSON and the

AAPS COVID & Health Guidance will be followed.​

Artistic Adventures: Puppets & Fairies

Full Day Camp

Slauson Middle School

Grades: 1st - 5th. Join us for four days of super fun puppet and fairy tale magic! We're going to have a great time playing with art, telling stories, and making our very own puppets. You'll get to dive into amazing fairy tales from all over the world and discover exciting adventures of good guys and maybe some not-so-good guys. And the best part? You'll make your very own puppet to bring the stories to life! We'll have an awesome time making and playing with puppets and exploring magical fairy tales together at Doodles Academy! In addition to improving muscle control and coordination, campers will gain confidence, listening skills, and self-awareness. They will be free to express themselves through movement in a safe, fun, disciplined, and friendly environment. Campers will also learn about hip hop culture and what it means to be a Bboy or Bgirl. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to learn how to pop-n-lock with the best dance teacher around! Instructor: Maurice Archer, owner of A2Breakdance. Monday - Thursday. No Camp Friday, 3/29

Goal Getter Spring Soccer

Grades: K - 5th. Come join Michigan Futsal Factory Academy staff for a new Soccer experience. This camp is for the beginner to immediate player and is designed to give players a unique opportunity to experience many forms of Soccer played around the world and how they benefit players. Learn the basics of soccer through fun games and activities and finish each day with a friendly game of World Cup. On one of the days, we’ll learn the difference between handling a soccer ball versus a Futsal ball. Instructor: Michigan Futsal Factory Academy Staff. Monday - Thursday. No Camp Friday, 3/29.

Introduction to Fencing

Grades: 2nd - 8th. The modern Olympic sport of fencing engages both mind and body. It is physically and mentally demanding and teaches problem solving as well as improved reflexes and agility. Fencing is unique in that a certain body type is not required. Fencing encourages different styles based on size and strength, and fencers are taught the importance of showing respect, regardless of the outcome. All equipment is included – campers should dress in sports clothing and sneakers. This camp is designed to introduce children ages 7-14 to the sport. They will learn basic footwork and bladework while learning simple fencing tactics and rules. Instructors: Ann Arbor Fencing Club Staff. Monday - Thursday. No Camp Friday, 3/29.

Twin Knights Chess

Grades: 2nd - 8th. Twin Knights Chess camp is for kids who have never played, those who have had some instruction and those who are familiar with the rules and some tactics. Campers will learn chess history, etiquette, piece movement, relative values of the pieces, common opening moves, middlegame and endgame strategies and tactics. They will practice under tournament conditions, analyze games of famous players, solve puzzles and have fun with playing bughouse. There will be trophies and other prizes. G-Powers Soccer

Bryant Elementary School

Grades: 2nd - 6th. Did you know soccer is the most popular sport in the world? Learn the correct way to pass and shoot, trap the ball, and practice good defense. We will also review the rules of the game. Improve your teamwork and gain game experience through scrimmages and various skill games and drills. Players will be split by age or ability for safety. Volleyball Spring Training

Half Day AM Camp

Pioneer High School

Grades: 5th - 8th. Join us for a dynamic volleyball experience that will take your skills to the next level! This camp strikes the perfect balance between skill development and the excitement of the game. Half of the week is dedicated to honing skills through drills, instructions, and demos; while the other half is about applying those skills in exciting games and mini-tournaments. You will sharpen essential skills such as – serving, passing, setting, hitting, blocking, and digging – with a focus on elevating players beyond the beginner level. Prior volleyball experience is recommended (but not required). This camp caters to basic to intermediate and advanced skill levels. Instructors: Pioneer High School varsity volleyball coaches. Monday - Thursday. No Camp March 29th.
